Dear Mr Macnee and Rupert,
I want to let you know, how I find the first Avengers season. I find the first season fantastic, but not so fantastic how the other ones. It was very strange for me to see another man (Mr. Keen MD)at Steeds position at the very first episodes. “Mr. Keen MD” was good but not so magical as “Steed” It was very great to see too, how Steeds character change in time.
He got his Melon and he don’t smoke. That’s the best two things at all. I´m very wondering that Steed is smoking and had another hat. To drink champagne is much better than smoking. :0) Nevertheless I will enjoy all episodes every day in my “Steed” T-Shirt. at all.
I wish you both a wonderful Christmas time and a very happy new year...!!!

Hello and warm greetings,
I have enjoyed watching The Avengers for many years. Now with the internet I'm discovering the Honor Blackman years. I don't recall those being shown in the states unless it was in the 60's and I was a little too young to recall. Obviously all of the ladies are absolutely fabulous. John Steed was a picture of class. I can say I developed my love of champange from watching him and Mrs. Peel pouring the bubbly. You were all great role models. Thank you so much!
I hope you are doing well and are enjoying the holiday season. Best regards! |

Dear Mr. Macnee --
Just another fan stopping by to say thank you. As crazy as it may sound, Avengers shaped my childhood in very positive ways and more than anything I just wanted to tell you thank you for being a part of that. I know it's just a silly show, but Emma and John were strong people who could always laugh at the end of the day to whatever happened.
I'm a very big fan of the audio books as well, you have such a lovely voice. But perhaps my favourite non-Avengers related role was your guest spot on the sitcom Coach a few years ago. You were lovely.
Anyway, I shall not waste your time. I'm just wanting to send you love and say thank you for everything!

Maybe it`s interesting for you that as from Monday,Dez 6th the second and third series with Honor Blackman and you and the surviving episodes from season one are shown in German television for the very first time ! They were never shown before in Germany. Only available on DVD undubbed. Now for the 50ths anniversary of the show a german telestation has dubbed these series. All the fans in Germany are so excited and looking forward to monday. There are a lot of younger fans like me(I`m 41)and all of them think, this is the greatest show ever.
I want to thank you for these show and all of your work. I hope you`re well and I wish you and your family a merry christams.

Dear Mr Macnee, I hope this message finds you well. I'm writing because, at 58, I recently came to realise that having grown through my teens in the 60s watching The Avengers that the character you played with such aplomb was probably the most significant male role model in my life. I'm also guessing Steed is responsible for my taste for champagne! Bless you for making such a character so real. |

Strange to leave a message, I'm hardly worthy to have the honor to have the chance to leave a message for one of one of my childhood heroes. I remember sneaking and watching you with my grandmother when I got to stay one night a week with her. The Avengers was one of her ( and sub-sequentially one of my ) favorite shows.
I turned on the t.v today and found the 1998 movie "The Avengers" & as soon as I heard the characters name, I instantly remembered you and googled to see what you've been up to. I was pleased to see you still active and that you had been given a cameo (at least by voice ) in the movie.
I've brought my boys ( 15 & 17 ) up on your series and a few other, what I consider classics and so another generation goes on to appreciate true talent and not just the computer aided novelty of most of todays television programming.
Thank-you for your wonderful contribution to my life and, now, my childrens. Best wishes for all your future and upcoming endeavors.
Sincerely,
Robbie Martini |

I thought I would post a photo from Halloween, I placed second in the costume contest as Tara King yet everyone was sad I didn't have a Steed. But everyone who asked where Steed was did say that no one can play Steed as sexy as Patrick Macnee, that was the only thing that everyone no matter if they were in their age or sexual preference we all agreed on Macnee. I had a nice long chat with a woman about her first crush being Patrick Macnee it was a multi generational fwah sound at the same time from three women all at once, it was brilliant. I don't drink so my prize of a $50 bar tab was not used but I had an amazing time and I hope you enjoy the photo. I only have it on twitpic, this is the only one where I am not with a black back ground. I was all in black, all but the wig. I reckon next year if my boyfriend Ian will go as Steed I will go as Mrs. Emma Peel. Enjoy the photo and let me know if you would like to see more. http://www.twitpic.com/332yvm Cheers all and I truly would like to know what Mr.Macnee thinks of it. It made my birth father cry with my costume I looked "normal" and his punk rock daughter looking normal and dressed as Tara from his favorite show ever made, he just teared up. I have to thank Mr. MacNee for that, my father-birth father and I have not hugged in 22 years, I am 27 now, I was adopted out to my grandparents at 5, so that was very special. And I have re-fallen in love with Mod clothing so I will look normal more often. XO-Sinead |

Oddly my birth father and I only have one talking point, and that is The Avengers, so when he asked me what I was going to be for Halloween, knowing I go out to bars to try to win costume contest-I cheat do magic, eat fire, swallow swords, ect to get the prize-I told him I was going as Tara King, he was happy. That was a rare thing for me to see. I was adopted by my grandparents, my Nan is Scottish and we often have girl talk about men we find attractive, my Nan and I both have a a crush on the on and only Patrick Macnee, and my Nan couldn't be happier that Macnee is Scottish like her, my Irish Papa even says Macnee is classic. Wish me luck on the costume contest, I will send photo if you like. Sadly at age 27 most people my age have never seen The Avengers-well in the United States, I have duel citizenship so I bounce back and forth from Ireland to the USA- but none of my male friends are up to being Steed, he is just too cool for them, as I was told after setting them down and watching the DVD's with them. Patrick you are lovely. I wish you nothing but the best.

Dear Mr. Macnee. I became a late fan of the Avengers because here in Brazil the series hasn't been broadcasted since 1969, when I was 9. With the Internet I made contact to the series history becouse of the presence of "the falling angel" Diana Rigg. I'm fan of Mrs. Rigg since childhood because of her unforgetable presence as "Tracey" on James Bond film, but never could write to her. I'd like to say: only a real gettleman like you as "John Steed" and her as "Emma Peel" could perform such a so perfect couple like you did. I watch and watch again the episodes of the 4th and 5th seasons of "The Avengers". Only you and Mrs. Rigg could make that so perfec caracters. People like you live forever. I'm here, but with both of you in my soul till I die. Best of my regards. |
