Patrick, I once saw you hold the fort whilst the revolving stage failed during `Sleuth` at The Savoy Theatre in London in the mid 80s. Do you remember this? Thank you for your great portrayal of Steed. The girls were great, especially Mrs Peel, but without Steed the Avengers would not have been the great show that is still, 50 years on, the best British tv show of all time. Best wishes , John Alston. |

I wantet to thank Mr.Macnee for his excepitionally wonderful acting in "The Avengers". Mr. Steed as well as Mr. Macnee for me are the perfect role model of the British gentleman. I do hope that now and in the future men are inspired by Mr. Macnee to be at least a little bit as gentlemanly as he is. |

Dear Mr. Macnee,
I've been a fan of yours since the mid 1960's when I became a follower of the Avengers TV series. As a young boy I watched it religiously and through the years have collected the many books, videos and memoribilia that have become available.
Your show inspired me to be the best I could be in whatever endeavor I faced. I want to thank you for sharing your talents through the many characters you portrayed. Of course John Steed is my favorite.
Whenever I need a dose of British humor or a shot of intellectual stimulation I watch an Avengers episode. |

We, through your son Rupert, exchanged emails some years ago.
I understand that your great grandfather was Sir Daniel Macnee. I now find that he did not have a brother. My ancestor was a James Macnee a coach builder based at Princes Street, Edinburgh. He died in 1869. His son, James Macnee, was my great grandfather.
My grandmother Christine Macnee and her sister Jean (& other 5 siblings) claimed to be grand neices and nephews of Sir Daniel Macnee. Can you, or son Rupert, help me to to update my records, please.
Ps I am a fan of Purdy and my wife swoons over Steed!

Hi Mr Macnee ! Such a pleasure to send you a little message showing my love and dedication to the Avengers I'm twenty and I discovered the show when I was 6 years old. Since then, I bought everything (from the DVDs, vhs to the books based on the series' history plus also original American novels published during the 60s). I wish I met you for real, because I've never adored another series the way I feel about the Avengers. It permitted me to see what my real vocations were : like for instance, following English courses at College to teach the language to young students, in the future
I let you know that you'll always be Mr Steed for me. You're such a gentleman and that's the way every Englishman in the UK should behave. The Avengers is full of great representations, the good old Britain, with all the famous landmarks, it's a world full of fantasy
I hope this message will reach you. I also have faith in the sense that I keep praying for meeting you one day (in Europe for another promo of the series or in the USA).
Best wishes, Mr Steed

I watched the Avengers when I was just a young boy on CBC-Windsor, Canada in the Detroit, Michigan area. My Mum would let me sneak up to watch the show after Dad went to sleep. Thank you for allowing me to watch something that has made me who I am today. You are a true gentleman and talented actor. Bravo sir! |

I just would like to say that I have enjoyed following your work for most of my life -though I was born just after the New Avengers went off the air (1978 and a fellow Aquarian like yourself)I'm a great fan of all incarnations of the Avengers, especially the Rigg period, you two were dynamic partners.
I also like your autobiography -gonna check it out again from the library soon- and your fiction writing work too. Hope you are having a great summer 2010 as well.
I'll be back to wish you a happy 89th next year. Love, Meg. |

I love everything I have seen or read that you are in or have written. Loved your autobiography. Just finished your 2 fiction books(the absolute best in the series!) I was however VERY upset when you were killed off in James Bond! How dare them. You, however, as always, did it in Great Style. Loved you in everything I can remember, even on the Titanic, wasn't it twice? Please keep writing and acting and stay 'young' and healthy for years. You ARE John Steed Indeed! Love You, Paul Ritz |
