I discovered "The Avengers" at about the age of 15. Now, 30 years later, I still love it. In fact, I love it even more than before since I am older and can appreciate it better.
I have followed Mr. Macnee for years and he is an excellent talent.
Thank you, Sir, for your work.
One day, I would like to travel to England and visit the countryside where The Avengers was filmed. If anybody knows what area that was, please let me know. My email is togihill@yahoo.com.
Again, thank you, Mr. Macnee. |

WOW! Patrick, you are truly a living legend.
I'm PLEASE to see your website. You are really "with it" to be direct. But then my 89 year old Mother wouldn't be here without her "Internet".
Funny, I've been reviewing some old Avengers. Some of the technological "fantasys" of the '60's are REALITY today.
Thanks for all your good work! To your well being, my shining example of a true British Knight of the Realm! |

I have been a big fan of The Avengers since 1966 when I was 11 years old. I have the series on vido and my wife and sons enjoy watching these shows with me. My oldest son is in Collegs studying acting and we all get a good laugh from the episode "Epic" but actually every episode was great. Your portayal of John Steed really needs to be seen by the young people of today. The character of Steed was a poised, refined, and polite Gentleman that demanded respect. I have to tell you that when i was in Jr. High I was so impressionable that I carried an umbrella to school even when it didn't rain. When class was dismissed I stood and let all the girls exit first before I left the room. It worked! The girls liked me!!! Diana Rigg was such a classy and beautiful woman with such wit and charm. The two of you were truly a team. Hope you are well and by the way today I am a Pastor. I don't always carry an umbrella but I am a gentleman. You inspired that!
Best to you and yours,
Pastor Steve Kirwin |

Dear Patrick Macnee,
In 1969 when The Avengers aired in Germany I was five and John Steed was undoubtedly my first love. Now on DVD I enjoy the shows as much as I used to during my childhood days. My taste obviously hasn't changed much. The wealth of fantastic ideas and brilliantly written lines is so incredible and I wished modern writers shared only a fraction of it. But what at least for me makes The Avengers so special is your acting, the gestures and looks that make such a big difference. What a delightful change from the armies of faceless superheros.
I wish you all the best and hope you enjoy the spring.
Best regards,
Claudia |

Greetings, Mr. MacNee:
In 1971 I was a student in London and rented rooms in their Wandsworth home from a couple, the male half of whom claimed to be a TV script writer who had worked on a number of "Avengers" episodes.
He described you as the consummate professional; that you always arrived on set with lines fully memorized, and were very patient with younger actors and their mistakes. That you mentored and encouraged them. In other words, a true gentleman - not unlike John Steed himself.
Finding this website has rekindled some 40-yr-old memories!
With kind regards and wishing you good health;
Bob |

Hello! Mr. MacNee
your work in the year of 1967 on The Avengers was truly classic. The work exhibited a more modern premise of equal rights. It was a prime example of individualism for secret agent spoofs . The show set a great deal of precedent for what is seen today. Truly magnificent characters Mrs. Peel & Steed were. I really enjoyed The Avengers. TV needs more shows of this type today. |

I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for all the wonderful memories that you have given me over the years. I am not one to be "starstruck", and I have never really been excited about celebrities, but I have to say that you are one of the very few actors that i will drop everything to see if you are on tv. I will watch anything that comes along with you in it. I love your acting very much. You have a grace, a style and a warmth that radiates on the screen. I know that it will never happen, but I would have loved to, at some point in my life, have met you and asked you all about your life and the times on the sets of the many ventures that you have undertaken. I bet that it would be fascinating. I didn't realize, until I discovered your website, that you had books available. I will now seek them out and embark on an adventure of reading them all. Again, thank you. You are a rare treasure! |

Mr Macnee, a belated Happy Birthday to you! As a fellow resident of the Coachella Valley, I hope you're enjoying the "just right" temperature we've had recently! I've been a fan ever since I was a boy of 8 when I stumbled across The Avengers late one night on PBS, when I had snuck out of bed. Now, nearly 25 years later, I've just ordered your autobiography. I tried to read it when I was young, but my mother read it first and wouldn't let me, saying it was "for grown ups." Looking forward to a good read! Wishing you the best of health and happiness this birthday! Take good care, always a fan:
