Sir,
avengers inspired playfulness, humor, elegance unlike the present series too bloody and realistic so we all feel become pathologist!
avengers was optimistic, colorful, smiling slightly.
Diana Rigg was exceptional in all her attitudes, her expressions, so fair. She was so elegant.
I still remember your words at the time of her departure when you say "Thank you Emma" I understood in your face a deep and genuine emotion.
I think this series will remain a benchmark of elegance, courtesy and civility nowadays unfortunately disappeared: it will remain forever a model to remind us.
Yes, the civilized world could be fun if everyone would bring a touch of elegance and generosity as Diana and you have been able to make in this unforgettable series
Thank you for your immense contribution as an actor and human beeing.
Your presence and that of Emma Peel will remain eternal well beyond human years and generations to come.
God bless you.
Sincerely
Georges, Meudon, France |

Dear Patrick,
After just watching another episode of The Avengers from my collection i'd thought i would see if there are any updates on your webite. And to my delight there are! A very Happy belated Birthday & hope you had a marvellous special time with your family.I am 36 this year & have been a strong fan since first seeing The Avengers during the early eighties. I have managed to collect on dvd all series from the Diana, Thorson and New Avengers so far. Soon i shall endeavour to collect the earlier series. I also have some of the many books & calenders from the which has given me many hours of enjoyment reading about the production, locations, interviews & much more insight of behind the scenes & cast.
It is such a shame in today's world & especially in the U.K that we seem to have lost the intelligent humour, morals, education, class, dignity & the use of our once rich language which is so evident in The Avengers. Would it not have been great if John Steed & Mrs Emma Peel were role models instead of what we have today! A little champagne in the right hands, at the right time is a must wouldn't you say :-) And indeed i feel that you sir are an incredible role model. Though obviously i cannot speak personally, watching many a film where you star. You always, with your very distinguished voice add a touch of class and show the world all that is truly British. Thank you very much for bringing to life such a wonderful character in an amazing series. Good health to you sir |

Wishing you a belated happy birthday wish with many more to come. You are one of my most treasured actors. I've been an avid fan of "The Avengers" from the time when the first Diana Rigg episodes aired in the US. I've collected all of the Avengers DVDs and seeing you as the young Marley in Scrooge every Christmas has become a tradition in my family.
And who could not recognize your distinctive voice delivering the introduction to the original "Battlestar Galactica" series?
Genealogy has been a passion of mine for many years, as it has been for you too.
I've often hoped for a day when I could meet you in person, but reality brings me back to earth.
Take care, be well and be safe Patrick.

Happy belated birthday Patrick. I first watched "The Avengers" as a child of 10 and am still enjoying the episodes over 40 years later. Noone has ever had the panache you have always possessed, your wit and sartorial elegance. I also loved and do love Diana Rigg. I wanted to be Mrs. Peel. The plots of "The Avengers" were so intelligent, they beat anything TV has to offer today. I just watched 2 favorite episodes again: "The Joker," and "The Superlative Seven." I also enjoyed "The New Avengers" and recently revisted that whole series thanks to Netflix. Thanks to the Internet and this guestbook I can finally reach out to you and let you know how much you are appreciated. From a fan for 40+ years, Janet |

Dear Patrick MacNee, You have always been one of my heroes. There will never be another "John Steed" for me, as you are the ultimate "Avenger." (2.) I have watched all of your films, and television appearances, and consider you to be, like the late David Niven, "one of England's masters of sophistication, intelligence, and ultimate class." (3.) Two years ago, I became the 'literary agent' for "The Estate of Geoffrey Jenkins," the great South African thriller writer, who sold 40,000,000 copies of his books worldwide. (Catch me on your computer at 'Dave White Presents,' the program for January 20, 2010, the Ron Payne Interview, www.audioentertainment.org/dwp) where I discuss the Jenkins hero, Commander Geoffrey Peace from the novels, "A Twist of Sand," and "Hunter Killer." (3.) My only regret is that we cannot cast you as Commander Peace in a forthcoming motion picture, now in the works. (He is about 30-35 years old.) But, as we are moving along on our project, I hope you will leave the door open to make an appearance with us. This would be a great "honour," for me, personally, and a thrill to be working with England's "greatest clubland hero--and national treasure.." Cheers to you, RON PAYNE, producer. |

An appreciation for a composer, 06.02.2010 just died of Patrick´s birthday
London. The British jazz musician John Dankworth died on Saturday at the age of 82 years in a London hospital. Dankworth composed music for film and television, including the theme song for the TV series "The Umbrella, Charm and Melon. The saxophonist has worked during his long career with many jazz greats like Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Benny Goodman, Herbie Hancock and Oscar Peterson together (Reuters)

Dear Patrick:
Have a wonderful birthday and many more to come. Thank you for so many hours of enjoyment and pleasure over the years. You and the Avengers were always a bright spot in my life and continue to be so. Many's a time, when in a difficult or uncomfortable situation, I ask myself, what would Steed do? I may not do it, but at least I'm thinking it and that makes all the difference. Thanks again for expanding the horizons of this Brooklyn, New York boy, inspiring my imagination and giving me such a wonderful role model to aspire to. One who has brought joy to so many is truly blessed. If I ever have a son, I'm definitely naming him after you.
Have a wonderful life, and keep the Bentley running.
Yours,
Jonathan Abrams |
