In the commentary belonging to 'The town of no return' Brian Clemens (or is it Roy Ward Baker?)says that imagining 'The Avengers' without you would be like entering Trafalgar Square and seeing that Nelson's Column is gone. I think that's well spoken! By the way, is there also a statue for Diana? Happy birthday! |

I'm not sure that you would remember me, but we lived next door to each other in Beaconsfield when you were making the "New Avengers." We both were renting on the estate of the Pelham-Burns,i.e., Widgeton House. It was a great delight living next door to you and sharing several meals with Di and Mike, and at least one bottle of Scotch. I am sorry to report that Mike died around 5 years ago and Di died last year. They were wonderful friends. I am now living in Napa Valley, CA and often think fondly of my time in the UK.
Very best regards and good health to you,

It was a sad view "The Avengers" or their actors being forgotten at the Olympic apperture party in London last year. The "James Bond" films, well represented, took much legacy from the remmarkable series. So that Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg, who became "Dame" and you are part of the history of the Bond films. I watched the presentation expecting for the appearance of some reference to "The Avengers" but was frustraded. Or is there someting I don't know? |

Dear Mr. Macnee:
I would like to take this opportunity to first say thank-you for your great talent as an actor, and the character of John Steed in The Avengers. It was one of my favorites and you remind me of my one grandfather, who were from British decent, as they say we all have a twin somewhere in the world! IT'S A GOOD THING THAT YOUR ANCESTOR WAS SUCH A GOOD STORYTELLER. I'VE ALWAYS ADMIRED THAT ABILITY. I LIKE PEOPLE WHO CAN TELL A GOOD STORY. I THINK DAME DIANA RIGG IS GOOD AT TELLING STORIES TOO. I CAN ACTUALLY PICTURE WHAT SHE'S TALKING ABOUT WHEN SHE TALKS. THAT AND SHE USES THE WORD, GRAVITAS. I ALSO USED TO LOOK AT PAINTINGS OF TALL SHIPS WHEN I WAS A CHILD. A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE STILL CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS. I WAS WATCHING "ESCAPE IN TIME" WHICH TIES INTO THE HOLIDAYS PRETTY GOOD. I REMBER THE TURKEY FARM HAS A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE ON THE SIGN. I NEVER CAUGHT THAT BEFORE. IT'S ACTUALLY A PRETTY PSYCHODELIC EPISODE. WITH A VERY STRANGE VILLAIN. AND AN UMBRELLA THAT CONTAINS KNOCKOUT GAS. I ALSO NOTICED THE LICENCE PLATE NUMBER WAS THE SAME AS ONE OF THE TIME TRAVEL YEARS. I NEVER NOTICED THAT BEFORE EITHER. I GUESS IT REQUIRES MULTIPLE VIEWINGS BEFORE YOU CAN GET IT ALL. DIANA RIGG WAS MY FAVOURITE, BUT THERE ALSO SOME GOOD LINDA THORSEN EPISODES AND JOANNA LUMLEY EPISODES TOO. I LIKE THE LAST OF THE CYBERNAUTS AND TRAP WITH AN ASIAN VILLAIN THAT IS NOT REALLY ASIAN. THERE IS ALSO ONE WHERE PURDEY HAS TO TAKE A TEST ON A COURSE THAT SHE WALKS WHICH I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF. |

Dear Mr. Macnee: I don't know if you remember this but in 1973 or so you were starring on Broadway in Slueth I believe and we saw the show, just a bunch of high school kids and you used to talk to us after the show outside the theater. We used to visit you quite often after your show when we went to New York City and one night you gave us a ride to Port Authority in your cab. I don't know if you recall that but you were very kind and a lot of fun. Thanks. |

I WATCHED THE AVENGER'S EPISODE, " DEATH'S DOOR" WHICH WAS LOADED WITH BIZZARE PSYCHADELIC DREAM SEQUENCES THAT HAD CALENDERS, CLOCKS, AND FACELESS MEN THAT LOOKED LIKE THEY CAME OUT OF A " PINK FLOYD " VIDEO. THIS CAME OUT YEARS AGO AND I AM STILL WATCHING IT TODAY. I OWN THAT BOX SET THAT WAS RECOMMENDED ON YOUR WEBSITE. WHEN I PURCHASED IT, I MADE CERTAIN TO PURCHASE THE RIGHT ONE. AND YES, IT'S THE OFFICIAL ONE! SO HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND DIANNA RIGG! I AM ALSO GLAD YOUR STILL ALIVE AND DOING WELL AT 90YRS OLD. " HAPPY CHRISTMAS " TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY,PATRICK. I DIDN'T KNOW WE COULD TALK TO YOU, I ONLY FOUND OUT BY WAY OF DAME DIANA RIGG'S WEBSITE. " HAPPY CHRISTMAS" TO BOTH OF YOU. I JUST WATCHED " TOO MANY CHRISTMAS TREES " ON THE OFFICIAL AVENGERS EPISODES THAT YOU RECOMMENDED A FEW YEARS AGO. IT'S A PART OF MY ANNUAL CHRISTMAS EVE TRADITION. I OPEN MY CHRISTMAS CARDS FROM WOMEN BEFORE I WATCH IT. I ALSO SEE SYLVESTER MC COY'S NAME ON YOUR WEBSITE. THAT'S GREAT BECAUSE I MET HIM SEVERAL YEARS AGO. HE TOLD ME HE DID SOME VAUDEVILLE AND SIDESHOW WORK. HE USED TO POUND NAILS UP HIS NOSE. HE IS GREAT WITH THE CHILDREN. I DID SOME SIMILAR WORK BUT I DID VENTRILOQUISM AND THE FLEA CIRCUS AND CARD TRICKS. BUT MY PURPOSE HERE IS NOT TO REALLY TALK ABOUT ME IT'S TO WISH YOU A " HAPPY CHRISTMAS" AND THANK YOU FOR THE COMMENDABLE WORK YOU DID ON PREVENTING TERRORISM. I ALSO DID SOME WORK AT THE AIRLINES. AND PRIOR TO 911 THERE WAS VERY LITTLE THAT THE FLT. ATTENDANTS AND PILOTS HAD IN THE WAY OF SELF DEFENSE AND AFTER 911, I'M SURE ANY HELP WAS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. SO THANK YOU ON THAT, AND THE TALK YOU GAVE ON BROLLIES OVER GUNS ON A LATE NITE SHOW THE YEAR THE " AVENGERS" MOVIE CAME OUT. I THINK THAT'S AN OPTION THAT IS OFTEN OVERLOOKED. SO THANK YOU FOR THAT. I NEVER FORGOT ABOUT WHAT A BROLLY COULD DO AFTER I HEARD THAT. YOU DEFINITELY KNOW YOUR STUFF. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN AND HAVE A PLEASANT EVENING. |

Hello! Compliments of the season. I was reading Mr Macnee's biography and discovered that he has arthritis and lives in Palm Springs. I am from London, England, live in the suburbs of Vancouver BC Canada ond once was diagnosed with arthritis in my left knee. When I asked my doctor what was the cure he said "Lose ten years!" I had to put up with a pain that lingered every time I got in or out of my car. My wife, Kathi has a a rescue Thoroughbred . She goes to horse shows.... Three years ago at one in Toronto she bought a blanket made by "Back on Track" She also bought me a "Back on Track" knee brace. I put on the brace for two 2 hours on the first day and one 2 hour on the second. The result was that I did the Knees Up Mother Brown and the Can Can (no bendover) without pain or any subsequent discomfort. I have had the occasional twinge and have put on the brace for an hour and it has gone. Back On Track make many different products based on the special fabric they use.. A trip to their web site would be well worth the time. Friends of mine have bought back braces, gloves and braces and would also recommend the product. Red Serge our horse likes his blanket too. DISCLAIMER - I have no relationship whatsoever with "Back On Track" or its dealers (there is one, a tack shop in Indio, I see.) I write this purely to be helpful and friendly to a gentleman who has provided entertainment and pleasure. No need to post this! ty |

Mr. Avenger: You played so well the English gentleman’s virtues of style, wit, grace, and fair play. (A far higher standard than the emphasis on automatic weapons today.)
And a second point: the series gave a first role to so many stars of the 1970’s, ’80’s, and ’90’s. Brian Blessed, Donald Sutherland, Penelope Keith to name but three. |
