Hello, Mr. Macnee. I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for the wonderful years of viewing you gave me growing up in the 1960s as Steed in The Avengers. Always cheerful, always unflustered, you made saving the world look effortless. Perhaps if most people were like your character portrayal, it would be! Thank you again and continued success to you and my best wishes to your family. |

It has been great reading through your site & trust you are well. One of the things I've been curious about was who/ where did the Bowler Hats come from? Was there a supplier's name that was a favourite - and where might they be located! Best wishes Paul Baxter, London |

Just an old fan dropping in after seeing you on "After They Were Famous". I don't quite understand the "After" bit. It should be retitled "They Will Always Be Famous". I tried to email about your daughter's Asthma but it bounced. Pity really as I've just dumped my asthma after fourty years. Thought I might help. Key word is "Buteyko Asthma". Go search the net. Kindest Regards, Tony Mee. |

Also to say that I have a special affection for The Avengers and Steed's attire, as it seems that the inventor of the Bolwer hat, Mr. Coke, is a descendent of mine! Many thanks, Chris. |

Dear Patrick, remember me? Heinz Kukowski, a German-born (now British) journalist in London who interviewed and photographed you innumerable times for newspapers and magazines of the Axel Springer Group. Remember your season at the Chichester Festival Theatre when we had dinners together at the Millstream Hotel in Bosham and smelled the honeysuckle? I had a little "deckhouse" and a sailboat at Emsworth Yacht Harbour, we also met accidentally when you were jogging on the beach (I forgot the name of the place, it was where the Rolling Stones were once busted for draugs, West Wittering?), Then I was transferred to L.A., where we met again, had lunch in Beverly Hills (with my second wife Marilyn). The last meeting I remember was in April 1986 when I spent a whole day in and around your house in Palm Springs and we talked for hours and hours and you were baring quite a bit of your soul. I seem to have lost those tapes, but I just rediscovered 32 colour slides I took on that occasion, which you are welcome to have. I am now 80 years old and live with my wife in retirement on the Costa del Sol in the South of Spain, the California of Europe. It would be great to hear from you or even meet you again some time. Marilyn and I hope you are well and healthy and send you our best wishes. Heinz |

Dear Mr. Macnee I have just discovered The Avengers on the A&E network's video tapes. My parents watched the show when I was a mere baby. I am not a TV watcher, but I think the show is wonderful and I wish television productions had a fraction of the elegance of The Avengers! Your character - the character you created - is absolutely adorable. And Diana Rigg had "Girl Power" at least a generation before anyone else even thought of it! I'm glad I have the opportunity to let you know how smashing I think you are in The Avengers! Shirley O'Shea |

With the characters you portrayed so eloquently and with great style you made me proud to be British, sadly this is lacking in todays entertainment !. As this is my 41st birthday you also give me great hope that there is a lot that I can still achieve, thank you. I wish you the very best of health and many more happy years. Chris |

Dr Mr McNee, I re-watched "The Avengers" last summer on video tape -- for maybe the 3rd or 4th time. Whenever I am feeling down, "The Avengers" lifts my spirits. I then read "Blind in One Ear" and loved it. Patrick McNee was so candid and unselfconscious in the book. I learned a lot from it. I think Patrick McNeee lifts my spirits because of the indominable spirit and good nature he displays. Whenever things were going very badly for Steed, Patrick McNee would smile as if to say, "Is that really the worst you can do?" Brad |

Dear Mr. Macnee, I am 41 years old and have a 6-year-old child whose name is Isotta. I have bought all of the Avengers DVD's, so I can show Isotta the telefilms I loved when I was a girl myself. She ADORES them, remembers all of them and plays all the time (she wants to be Emma so I have to be ... John Steed!. She says she loves Steed by the way). I am really pleased to see your website and just wanted to tell you you have a very young and affectionate fan! Ilaria Mazzoli Via Chiesa, 26 43037 Faviano Inferiore (Parma) Italy |

I hope the series "The Avengers" was as fun to make,as it was to watch. I watched in the 60's and I am still watching. One advantage of getting older is you can watch the show over and over because you can't remember the plot for any length of time. John Youpatoff |
